My Daily Skincare Routine
What is my daily skincare routine? In the past week or so, I’ve had three different people from different parts of my life compliment my skin. I’m thinking that I’m giving dewy because I’m a little sweaty, always. Whatever the reason, it has inspired me to write this post and give my routine to the world…at least those who want it. Do you remember my daily beauty routine post? Quick and simple. That’s how I like my routines.
Who has time for a daily skincare routine? Everyone. My daily skincare routine takes less than five minutes in the morning and about the same amount of time at night. Remember, time for yourself is important. You need it. I’ve edited down to a cleanser, a serum and a moisturizer. I’ll throw in an eye cream if I have time. Don’t be like me, make time for the eye cream.
Daily Maintenance
What exactly is my daily skincare routine? I wash my face with Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser. Not the Cetaphil Daily Cleanser. The latter has soap. I don’t need that, I like to keep my skin moisturized. Or I use Darphin Cleansing Milk. I received a full size bottle for free when I ordered something during the Black Friday sale. It’s definitely pricey, but I like it. I follow with a serum and then a moisturizer.
Serums
Lately, I’ve been switching between serums for my daily skincare routine. I like to keep it interesting. I rotate K-beauty ones I find at Marshalls, ones from Caudalie and Vichy Mineral 89 Serum. The Vichy Mineral 89 is an amazing find and such a good value if you play the CVS Extrabucks game. I’m obsessed with products that contain hyaluronic acid. Apparently, your body produces this stuff and it keeps your skin hydrated.
The Caudalie ones I like are Vinoperfect Brightening Dark Spot Serum and Resveratrol Lift Serum. I go through a lot of different serums. I like that step and I like the ability to change the product whenever my skin needs something different.
Moisturizers
As far as a moisturizer goes, I stick with Darphin. It is pricey, but definitely worth it. I started using this brand because I was 21 years old on Semester at Sea and my roommate used something from this French brand. Something she said about having a beauty routine early and looking younger forever stuck with me. Later in life, when I saw this brand again in France, I bought it and have been using it ever since. True story. Thanks, Steph!
I use Darphin Ideal Resource Smoothing Retexturizing Radiance Cream. Also, I rotate Darphin’s Hydraskin Rich and Hydraskin Light moisturzers, as well. I LOVE the Hydraskin Rich moisturizer during the winter months. And, it can double as a night cream if you want to pack less things like I do sometimes.
Night Creams
What do I use at night for my daily skincare routine? Loreal Midnight Cream. It’s widely available and relatively affordable. Target and CVS are my goto destinations to purchase this product. I’ve tried other products and I’m happy to throw K-beauty night moisturizer in there, but the midnight cream is my goto.
Eye Creams
For the most part, I do not purchase eye creams. I use the samples that come with my Lancome mascara. We have to save somewhere. I use the Regenerie eye cream, as well as the Absolue eye cream. I prefer the Regenerie based on smell alone.
Bonus Products
I LOVE a bonus product. These are the masks, the eye patches, toners, exfoliaters, etc. Peter Thomas Roth 24K hydro-gel eye patches and Tony Moly intense care snail hydro-gel masks are my favorites. I try to do the eye patches at least once a week. I’ve heard you’re supposed to put them on every day! The snail masks, I do when I can. They’re also great to take on the plane. Yes, I’m that girl.
I use witch hazel for toner. Sometimes, if I’m having a sweaty day or if I don’t have time to wash my face, I’ll swipe some toner on for a refresh. Then, I spritz on Caudalie Beauty Elixir.
I love this for blemishes.
Exfoliaters are a hard category for me. I used the Ole Henriksen walnut scrub for years and now it’s discontinued and I’m all out. St. Eves Apricot Scrub is a good tried and true drugstore option. Honestly, I just use the Fresh Sugar Polish once in awhile (once a month) and call it a day. I leave the scrub on for 10 minutes so it doubles as a mask, and then wash it all off.
Nighttime Daily Skincare Routine
What happens at the end of the night? What’s my nightttime daily skincare routine? I wash everything off. I use Cetaphil, or the cleansing milk, again and sometimes throw in an exfoliator. After I wash my face, I apply serum, moisturize and use eye cream. Done.
Conclusion
Do you have to have a daily skincare routine? If the answer is no, you should. Routines streamline my life. It gives me time for myself to do something for myself. And the end result is something that makes me feel good for the rest of my day and gets my lots of compliments, apparently. A daily skincare routine, no matter the motivation, is worth having, or at least worth trying.
