When the world needs it, the fashion world finds a way to step up their game. The demand for face mask options has soared in recent months, partly because the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) now recommends wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) masks in public settings to help slow the spread of COVID-19. Many companies are now making, selling and donating non-medical grade face masks for daily protection from COVID-19. PPE masks are usually made from a breathable fabric like cotton and differ from a surgical mask and N95 respirators, which experts say should be reserved for health care workers who are caring for the sick.
In past months, I’ve stuck to the basic black option from Target. This one is practical (made of breathable cotton) and affordable at two for $4. It also comes in my favorite color…black. Lately, however, I’ve been on the hunt for mask options that bring a wow factor to my outfit. How do I stay safe, keep others safe AND stay in fashion? This one from Carolyn Rowan Accessories is my favorite. It’s black with just enough sparkle to make any outfit pop. If you’re looking for more pizzazz, this allover sequin one will have heads turning. If you’re a match my mask to my headband kind of fashionista, this Lele Sadoughi set is calling your name. Ulla Johnson makes a reversible option so you can wear either side you want depending on your mood.
If you need more incentive, Bloomingdale’s is having a cyber sale for the next two days. The rules, get $25 off for every $100 you spend on select items with code CYBER. Last day to get the discount is October 14th! Run!
Need something to help you keep your face mask close at all times? Sure, you can wear it as a chin strap OR you can add another hot Fall 2020 accessory to your wardrobe. Face mask chains can keep you and others safe at all times. This paperclip chain version is on trend and will look great layered with your paperclip chain necklace!
Remember, CDC guidelines recommend washing face masks regularly (with detergent, in the washing machine); not touching your eyes, nose or mouth when removing them; and washing your hands or using hand sanitizer immediately after taking your face mask off. Cotton is the most breathable fabric when it comes to fashion. Everything else is for looks.
Ok, PSA over. Check out more of my picks below! Happy shopping!
