It can be a guessing game to figure out what to get the kiddos every year. Birthdays and holidays can turn into stressful times when you’re searching for the perfect gift. The task can be even more daunting if your kid is a baby and can’t tell you what he wants. Luckily, once you navigate all the options that are out there, Amazon can have it gift wrapped and delivered in two day or less (if you’re a prime member).
Whether you’re shopping for our you own kids or looking for other little ones in your life, you’ll be happy to know that you will find a gift they will love and you won’t have to look very far. I perused the Amazon pages and had many discussions on mom boards. These seem to be the toys that are most sought after for the kiddies aged 1-3. I’m super picky when it comes to toys for my child. Living in NYC, we don’t have a lot of room and kids “get over” toys quickly. I’d rather spend the extra time to pick the right toy than have a bunch of toys we don’t need.
LEGOs and toys that feature the star of “The Mandalorian,” who is officially known as “The Child” but unofficially called Baby Yoda, top the favorites list. My personal favorite find are the Cutetitos Fruititos. They are surprise stuffed animals. Unroll scented “fruit burritos” to reveal a plush animal. Kids get a pet collector card with each one. AND it’s under $10!

While the LEGO kit for older kids that’s all the rage is one where you build the Razor Crest ship that was featured in “The Mandalorian,” younger kids will want less pieces and more color. The 1,023 piece Razor Crest Building Kit includes miniature versions of characters on the show, including the Mandalorian, Greef Karga, IG-11, a Scout Trooper and Baby Yoda.
LEGO DUPLO My First Car Creations
Did you know LEGO makes bricks that are double the size for younger children called DUPLO? This car set is perfect for a one year old as a starter LEGO set. The cars would be great for the reverse side of a Ruggish rug. (Read more here.) Or, if you’re looking for a more substantial set, the classic brick box comes with more pieces and a storage box.

If you must have a Star Wars theme toy for your child, this plush Baby Yoda might do the trick.
Mattel Star Wars The Child Plush Toy
Play kitchens are a hot item. I know my little one loooves opening and closing the cabinet doors. He spends a large chunk of this day taking things out from the shelves. I spend an even larger chunk putting everything back. And then he comes around and does it again…and again and again. I wonder if I get him his own kitchen, will he leave mine alone?
KidKraft Farm to Table Kitchen
I really like the KidKraft ones. They’re sturdy and made from wood mostly. This vintage-look one would be my pick if I were three years old again.
KidKraft Vintage Kitchen
If the thought of getting a play kitchen is too much. Or if you’re thinking about how much space a play kitchen will take up, start with something smaller. How about an ice cream stand?
Melissa and Doug Scoop and Serve Ice Cream Counter
This ice cream parlour includes things like a scooper, scoops, cones and fake money. Real ice cream not included.
Melissa and Doug Cutting Fruit
Or a fruit crate. I like this Melissa and Doug set because it enhances a child’s motor skills by teaching them what cutting is and readies them for math concepts by teaching part and whole.
Melissa and Doug Food Groups
Melissa and Doug also a food groups set. This set comes with four crates. Kids can learn about food groups, sort by color or group meals together. It’s a fun, creative way to learn. I’m a big fan of Melissa and Doug toys for kids. I think the brand does an amazing job of delivering quality products, while marrying the concepts of learning and play seamlessly.
Green Toys Shape Sorter
If you’re looking for a simple learning toy for your one year old. I received this Green Toys Shape Sorter as a gift. My little guy hasn’t mastered putting the correct shape in the correct slot, but he’s having a blast using the shapes as blocks for now. I’m glad that this toy is made with 100% recycled plastic and is Phthalate and BPA free.
smarTrike Zoom Toddler Tricycle
Looking for something with more wow factor? The Zoom 4 in 1 Trike is every kid and parent’s dream. This tricycle will grow with your child. You can push your him to the park when he’s younger and then watch him learn to ride on his own as gets older. The steering is a dream and features like a toy basket and sun canopy keep everyone happy.
VTech Smart Shots Sports Center
I had reservations about the VTech Smart Shots Sports Center. How many light-up sound toys does one child need? But my baby LOVES this thing. He likes the counting. He smiles every time he makes a basket and has fun digging balls out from the goal. He likes pushing the buttons and clapping along when the crowd cheers. This one is a winner. I will say that this is a little bigger than I expected, but has a slim profile so it’s not always in the way. The adjustable volume is a welcome bonus.
CASSARO Pikler Play Tower
I found this climbing tower on a blogger’s story. This tower features an adjustable step up stool and pop-out slide, which flips to a chalkboard on the other side. A tower is a fun way to let your child help you while you’re in the kitchen. The slide offers both indoor and outdoor fun. Bonus, the slide can connect to a Pikler triangle for more options to play!
CASSARO Large Pikler Triangle
Pikler triangles are a hot topic on mom/parent blogs. Everyone’s preparing for what happens when it’s too cold or too rainy to play outside. The solution is a Pikler triangle. You can crawl, climb and build motor skills. Attach it to a slide and you have your own indoor playground!
That’s it for now! I’m going to go make some room for a Pikler triangle and/or the climbing tower. Happy shopping!
xoxo
