I like structure. When I go for walks, I need a destination…even if it means to a random intersection. I need a plan. So what happens when life suddenly has to go unplanned? I cook. I’ve been cooking and baking up a storm every day. I enjoy it because cooking makes the time pass and it gives me purpose for the day. I meal plan. I make decisions about breakfast, lunch and dinner and about entrees, side dishes and desserts. It might sound small, but it brings a me calmness to know that I have control over these decisions.
As I’ve been cooking, I’ve noticed some very important items that I need in my chef-life so I thought I’d share. Amazon is taking orders and delivering to your doorstep. Some items even come with coupon (you know I love a good coupon). AND Amazon is running a promotion right now where if you reload $100 on your gift card, you can get $10 back. That’s a 10% savings! It’s simple. Use you credit card to reload your amazon gift card (get points on your credit card). Pay for your order with your gift card. Yes, it’s an extra step, but it’s also extra savings. Check it out!

WÜSTHOF Knife Set–I wanted the upgrade and these knives seem to last forever. I love the all black, looks very sleek. Now all I need to do is finally redo my kitchen to match. Additional colorways are here.
Electric Kettle-This is a time saver and a lifesaver. This electric kettle boils water faster than a traditional kettle. It’s perfect for tea and for making bottles for baby.
Strainer-I can’t believe I didn’t know about this sooner! We’ve been making so much pasta lately. With this clip-on strainer, I no longer need a separate colander. Just pour and unclip when you’re done.
Tongs-Love these tongs. The silicon head keeps the tongs from scratching my pans. These have come in handy for turning steaks and chicken. I have way more control with tongs than with a spatula.
Nutribullet-Necessity in my home. Hubby makes smoothies and I puree baby’s food in here. It’s no frills and a fraction of the price of a Vitamix.
Lemon/Lime Squeezer-It’s always five o’clock when you’re “on pause.” Fresh lemon and lime juice will spruce up any cocktail AND it’s always convenient to have lemon juice on hand for cooking.
Olive Oil Dispenser-Olive oil, salt and pepper are the three must-haves for any recipe. This dispense keeps your EVOO within reach at all times.
Measuring Cups-Silicone measuring cups are perfect. These are light, easy to grip and easy to pour. Microwave save and dishwasher safe.
Cookie Rack-I’ve been baking a lot lately and experimenting with different recipes. Space is hard to come by in tiny NYC apartments so this cookie rack is perfect because it collapses when not in use.
That’s it for now! Happy cooking!
