Clogs are back for 2021, and I’m not mad about it. You’re likely either a longtime fan of clogs or can’t stand the sight (or sound) of the them — there’s not much in between. But, regardless of your previous conceptions of this silhouette, it’s time to rethink this shoe. There is no hiding from this ever present fashion staple.
Hermes debuted the Calya clog in their Spring 2021 show and the world hasn’t been the same since. We use the word chic a lot in fashion, but these were chic. Hermes’ clog was simple, elegant, shined leather in beige, brown or black with contrasting studs on the sides. The heels were low and perfect for every day wear. I wanted to wear them with everything from jeans to shorts to summer dresses. Of course, this unicorn shoe that’s both fashionable and functional are completely sold out. But fear not, with new interpretations are being released from luxury, contemporary brands and budget brands, the fall 2021 clog trend is here to stay.
How to Wear Clogs
Keep it simple. If you’re trying a trend for the first time, keep the outfit simple. These are my top 5, easy-breezy, these are definitely in my closet options:
- A boho blouse with a midi skirt.
- Leather pants with a casual blouse
- A maxi dress
- A tailored suit
- Jeans and a t-shirt
Which Pair of Clogs Are Right for Me ?
Any pair! Clogs/mules are meant to be both comfortable and fashionable. No longer are you married to the loud wooden sole. The options are aplenty. Whether you’re looking to splurge on a designer pair or a super budget-friendly version like this Walmart pair, if you want a pair of clogs this season, you will find one you absolutely LOVE. I’m definitely going for these Birkenstock ones. They come in four colors (that I know of) and are shearling lined. These will go with EVERYTHING! Birkenstocks are known for being immensely comfortable partly because of the premium materials used to make these shoes. And they last, so Birkenstocks are worth the money.
For my designer pick, I’m obviously on the hunt for the Hermes pair. But, if I ran into the Gucci 2015 re-edition of the Amstel clog, I would not say no.
