The Fourth of July symbolizes a lot of different things for different people in America. Does it mean freedom? Does it mean repression? Does it mean beach parties and back yard barbeques? Does it mean summer vacation? Does it mean weekend sales? It can mean all of these things or none of these things depending on who you ask.
I’ve had mixed feelings about the Fourth of July this year. Maybe, it’s because I’m a mother and want to be better for my child so I’m doing more thinking and self reflection. Maybe, it’s because I’m getting older and have learned a little more along the way. Maybe, it’s because I’ve had more time to look around, slow down and be more aware of the world around me. Whatever it is, this year, I’m treating this holiday as less of celebration and thinking of it more as extra time to spend with my family and myself.
Yes, this might seem a little on the heavier side, but it’s what I’ve been thinking about this weekend. And to think, it started with a request to make a Fourth of July themed playlist for a cycling class. So simple, but not.
Back to business. The sales. I took time to reflect and think. But I also took time to shop. I went a little all over the place. I stocked up on some wear-now pieces and took advantage of the deep designer discounts to prepare for fall. I 100% believe in investing in accessories and closet staples that you will come back to time and time again. Check out my haul below. I also threw in some extra pieces that are steals!
