We’re right smack in the middle of summer and we’ve seen so many great fashion deals already. NET-A-PORTER, the luxury retailer, is no exception. The website has thousands of gems on sale right now. NET-A-PORTER sales happen only twice a year. Shoppers from around the world make their wish lists months in advance in order to score coveted pieces at a majorly deep discount. Everything from swimwear and cover-ups to ski pants and winter boots are up to 70% off. What if NET-A-PORTER is too expensive and out of my price range you ask? It’s not. Let me tell you why.
Yes, NET-A-PORTER is a luxury retailer. But, they are also extremely on trend. Everyday brands like Nike, Adidas and Vans are on their website because they produce styles that are coveted. And just like the higher end items, they too go on sale up to 70%. These Missoni Adidas Original sneakers are 50% off and these Gold Stan Smith’s are $32! You can save money on your basics and have enough to splurge on something else.
NET-A-PORTER marks down items to make room for next season. This is when you can spend on investment pieces. Investment pieces are items that are timeless…pieces that you will come back to over and over and over again. These pieces, may be pricey, but will last you a lifetime (and then some if you pass them down) if you choose the one that fits your needs. Here are my top five investment items.
Designer Handbag-Invest in something versatile. Something that you will use. Nothing annoys me more than a closet full of stuff that goes unused (unless you’re using your closet like an art gallery). I like a black handbag because it goes with everything. The leather on this Valentino Rockstud Crossbody makes this style classic. The studs on this handbag give it an edge. A piece like this can change your outfit from a 10 to 1000. This bag can also be converted into a clutch for a dressier night out. Imagine a long simple gown and this studded clutch as your pop. Perfection.
Statement Shoe-If you know me, you know I LOVE SHOES. One can never have too many pairs. BUT, invest in a statement shoe. Invest in a statement shoe that is comfortable. Invest in something that you can wear with a basic black dress and go. It will save you so much time and you are guaranteed to love your outfit because you know you look good and are comfortable. I would save up for Balenciaga’s “knife” boot. This style has been worn by everyone from Michelle Obama to Kylie Jenner, which proves that it stands the test of time.
Basic Flat/Sneaker-Everyone needs a pair of go to sneakers that go with everything and are super comfortable. Golden Goose Deluxe Brand (GGDB) “superstar” sneakers are super comfortable. They are your basic white sneaker on steroids. These shoes are flashy, but they somehow go with everything and are super comfortable. This pair is not on sale, but it might be some time soon. Add it to your wish list and see what happens! An amazing, and much more affordable, alternative are these white Vans. $38!
Luxury Swim-We all want to look our best when we’re lounging by the pool or the beach. Marysia makes beautiful swimwear that glorifies all your perfection. The designer is a former ballerina that knows how the body moves and how to dress it so that it looks its best. I’ve hunted sale after for these pieces at the right price. This Marysia one-piece is next on my list.
Wow Piece-Everyone NEEDS a “WOW” piece in their closet…something that makes you feel special no matter how awful your day was. I chose a piece that’s a wow piece and a basic. This Deadwood Leather jacket with faux shearling trim is a great investment because you can wear the black leather jacket every day, but the shearling trim makes you feel like you have a one-of-a-kind piece. That’s what makes for an awesome investment.
AND as a thank you from NET-A-PORTER to you, you will receive a $50 USD gift card for every $500 USD you spend. Check the website for details.

P.S. If you’re a gambler, NET-A-PORTER usually does an extra 20% off sale prices to finish the sale at the end of the season. Put what you want in your bag or your wish list. Make sure you’re signed into your account. Fair warning, once the item sells, you lose out. Think about what the item is worth to you. Good luck!
